Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Following the Supervisors instructions, the workers will operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, and irrigation equipment. Equipment includes ATV's, and Motorized Mules. Attach farming implements such as plows, disc, sprayers, spreaders, and harvesters to tractors using hand tools and hardware. Workers will clean, inspect, and adjust machinery. Perform maintenance to ensure operating efficiency such as fixing leaks, changing hoses, nozzles, and filters. Fill sprayer tanks with chemicals and water according to formulas provided and keep this area clean. Keep tractors and work areas clean. Complete tractor and/or forklift checklist daily. Complete daily inspection, including cleaning and lubricating record-mechanized sprayer checklist.
General Farm Labor: Handling of pesticides (mixing/loading, disposing/washing containers and applying manually with equipment). Must be able to work in heat wearing P.P.E during spraying of fertilizer or pesticide solutions using a hand sprayer to control insects, fungus, weeds, diseases, according to safety rules. Perform maintenance duties such as mowing grass, hoeing, weeding, cleaning, ditches/canals, applying/replacing protective wraps,fixing, and adjusting reflective material. Planting new trees, resets and remove trees by pushing or cutting and dispose. Transport dead trees to assigned areas to be burned and/or destroyed with a tiller. Pruning trees, remove sprouts, and picking fruit (for trials, clean-up and activities other than full harvesting). irrigation cleaning repairs, repair and maintain drainage infrastructure. Water trees in the field or staging areas.
Other Requirements: Workers seeking employment under this job order must be available for entire period requested by the employer.
The employer retains the right to discharge any obviously unqualified worker, malingerer, or recalcitrant worker who is physically able to complete the work, but does not demonstrate a willingness to perform the work necessary for the employer to grow a premium quality product, or for any other lawful reason.
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when working in agricultural crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields. All workers must report all injuries and illnesses to their employer. As well any communicable diseases such as but not limited to diarrhea, or any other infectious disease or illness. Workers shall report immediately any cuts or abrasions that cause open bleeding. No tobacco, food, gum, candy, drink (other than water) or medication is allowed while working in the field. No jewelry, watches or fingernails longer than 1/8" are allowed. No open toe shoes or sandals are permitted. Glass bottles, drinking glasses, or any item made from glass are prohibited in the field. Improper hygiene will not be tolerated. Throw the used bathroom tissue into the toilet every time, then flush the toilet. Keep the restrooms, rest areas and portable facilities in the field clean for others.
General Conditions: On the first work day, the employer will provide specific instructions and/or training (6 hour) in the proper way to perform the crop activity. Thereafter, the worker will be expected to perform the task with diligence as instructed. By the beginning of the second working day (6 hours of work completed), workers will be expected to not adversely affect the productivity of the other workers, and to perform the work in a manner specified by the employer and described herein.
